Toffee Popcorn Ideas
Toffee Popcorn is a delectable treat for holidays. Making it is easy, and everyone loves helping to eat it! It is always smart to have some extra helpings around the house for those unexpected guests during the holidays. Additionally, package some in empty tins to make the perfect last-minute gift.
This is a great project to involve your kids, although you may want to keep them away from the hot toffee mix while it is on the stove. Instead of spreading the mix of toffee and popcorn out on cookie sheets, you may want to put the popcorn in a brown paper bag and pour the toffee mix and nuts into the bag. Fold over the top and give it to your children to shake it up. They will come up with some memorable moves as they help to mix this special holiday treat.
Toffee Popcorn Recipe
- 1 cup butter
- 2 cups light brown sugar
- ½ cup corn syrup
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups of nuts (pecans and cashews are traditional)
- 10 cups popped popcorn
Preheat the oven to 250 degrees.
Pop the popcorn and set aside.
Melt the butter over low heat and add the brown sugar, corn syrup and salt.
Mix until the sugar has dissolved and turn up the heat to bring the mixture to a boil. Boil for five to six minutes.
Remove the mixture from the heat and stir in the baking soda and vanilla extract.
Gently pour the mixture over the popcorn and toss it to coat the popcorn. If you want to include nuts in your toffee popcorn, this is the place to add them.
Spread the toffee popcorn on cookie sheets and cook them at 250 degrees for 45 minutes.
*Note – you may want to line the cookie sheet with aluminum foil to make the clean up easier.
Stovetop Popcorn Poppers
While microwave or air-popped popcorn will work for this recipe, using a stovetop popper with a little bit of coconut oil will produce amazing results! In addition to phenomenal toffee popcorn, you can use the stovetop popper to create Movie Theater Popcorn at home and amazing batches of Kettle Popcorn.
Not only will you save the exorbitant prices of the movies and the popcorn, you won’t need to question the chemicals or sanitation of the theater. Instead, you can this into a delightful family-oriented process with a fantastic tasting reward!
